EARLY SHILOH SHARPS, FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK, NEW MODEL 1863 .54 CALIBER PERCUSSION SADDLE RING CARBINE, #8XX, WITH "WOLF'S HEAD" STAMPING ON THE SIDE OF THE BARREL. Shiloh hasn't catalogued the percussion rifles for a few years now and they are very hard to find. This one has the tiny outlined "wolf's head" on the rear side of the barrel indicating that it was assembled by the original founder of Shiloh Sharps Wolf Droege. This carbine has the optional sling ring and bar along with polished blue barrel. It also has the correct Lawrence ladder rear sight. Overall this one seems to have had very little use and appears about like it did when it left the factory about 40+ years ago. It is tight and perfect inside. It retains all the blue on the barrel and nipple, as well as all the original early style case colors (early case colors tended to have some gray spotting mixed with the colors) on the action, hammer, breech block, butt plate, lever and barrel band. The walnut stock and forend are an attractive deep reddish brown and overall the wood looks about new.
