Winchester Model 1876 Rifle fitted with a 28 inch full octagon barrel, full length tube magazine, restocked with a cheek-rest stock with patch box and unigue steel butt-plate (work done by Harvey Leonard, well known California gunsmith in the later 19th Century), and is chambered in .45-75. This 1878 vintage Model 1876 is in good condition, with all metal surfaces having changed to different shades of brown patina and much pitting on the receiver and side plates. The open sights are in excellent condition with the rear being fully functional for elevation. The bore is shootable, but is rough throughout. The action functions well though the dust cover is a little loose. Comes with a framed Cody Firearms Museum/Winchester Repeating Fire Arms letter stating gun was received in the warehouse in February 1, 1880 and shipped from the warehouse on April 19, 1880.
