Description:
1st Model Richards conversion includes the holster and gunbelt filled with period cartridges. I am showing the box the cartridges came from, but it and the other 37 cartridges are not included in this listing. This First Model Colt Conversion is not really a conversion, because the low serial number of 5212 does not reflect the conversion of an original Colt Model 1860 Army revolver. If that was the case, the true conversion would have had both the old number and the assembly number on it. This is actually known as the "1860 First Model Original Cartridge Richards" in the literature, as it was made strictly for the civilian market. Its serial number, 5212, is near the end of production of this model somewhere in the high 5000 serial number range and just before the appearance of the Second Model Richards. This revolver is an all matching specimen and is fully functional with a nice aged brown patina. The grips are bone, with silver inserts that are actually the rear portions of spoon (or fork) handles, but they are silver nevertheless. There are two really minor items that need to be mentioned, for sake of full disclosure. First, there is a small metalwork flaw in the frame under the loading gate that has most likely been there since the revolver was manufactured. Second, the loading gate spring is missing. I bought a replacement, but never installed it, so I will include the replacement spring in the sale and leave the installation to the new owner. Buyer to pay shipping and insurance. USPS Money Order or Cashier's Check only, please. No FFL required, the revolver is an antique. Thanks for looking
