Description:
Sale Pending !!

This Standard Products M-1 Carbine, Cal .30 Serial No. 2208XXX was mfg abt 1/44. Standard Products accounted for only abt 4% of the total WWII production of Carbines. They were the  second lowest producer of  Carbines in WWII - next to Saginaw Gear. They also had mutiple suppliers and sub -contractors. This Standard Products is an example tremendous cooperation and joint production of a WWII war production effort  ever achieved.
This particular Standard Products Carbine features these components  parts - Receiver Median gray parkerizing w/all matching parts. Buttstock is a lighter grain
Walnut w/the correct "PJ" stamped in the sling well (Info from "R. C. Larson") . It is a late war or early post war replacement stock w/matching T1-  2 hole hand guard w/small letters of "SH-B" on the underside. (The sling , oiler and magazine are for presentation purposes only and are not included.)
The action is excellent and the bore is a mirror w/a nice visable twist and measures "!". These Standard Products, to me, are of the same quality as both National Postal Meter and IBM . According to my sources these manufacturers had the fewest  quality control & field problems.
The following part components are inventoried for this carbine:
Receiver -  T2 w/narrow tang, square millcut, one front and one rear dismount notch, , long hand guard lip, T3 retaining lug, hole for spring tube, Recoil Plate - T3 marked "Standard Products", Barrel - Underwood "1-44 w/Flaming Bomb" and "P" proof mark, Rear Sight - T1 "UM Flip", , Front Sight -  T1 w/"N" , milled and slope edge, Bolt - T-2 marked "SI", Extractor - T3, Firing Pin - T3,Ejector - T2 , Trigger Hsg - T4 w/"SI" marking, Triogger - T4 w/"S-C" marking, Sear - T2 w/"SW", Hammer T2 w/"SW", Safety - T3 w/"SW", Mag Catch - T2 A w/"SW", Oper Slide - T4 w/"S", Stock - WWII Replacement w/"PJ in sling well, Handguard - T1 w/SHB on underside, Recoil Plate - w/"Standard Products" marking, Barrel Band - T2 Unmarked, Butt Plate - w/"S-S3"  lettering.
Overal this Standard Products is, to me, a unuque and most desirable addition to the most discerning WWII Carbine Collector. I use these reference publications for my information; The M-1 Carbine III by J.C. Harrison, US M1 Carbines, Wartime Production by Craig Riesch - 7th Edition, M-1 Carbine , 2nd Edition by R. C. Larson.
