Description:
The Combat Commander was developed in response to complaints from some users about the excessive recoil and rapid wear of the aluminum alloy-framed Commander. The Combat Commander is identical to the Commander, except it uses a steel frame. This gives it a weight of approximately two pounds. It was produced between 1971 and 1999. The pistol shown above left the factory in 1976, according to the Colt Serial Number Database. It has a matte nickel finish which is in roughly 95 percent condition. There are small surface marks in the finish, which appear to be a sign of light holster wear. There are a few small rust spots in the serrations of the hammer spring housing but some cleaning oil and a nylon brush should fix that. The bore is in great shape with no rust or pitting. The hammer spring is quite strong, as is the recoil spring. The slide is difficult to rack without cocking the hammer back which is not unusual when a heavy hammer spring is present. The magazine holds seven rounds. This 1911 would make a nice addition to any 1911/Colt collection.
