I just watched the same scope (identical condtion) sell for $203.50 elsewhere. With shipping and tax the total was over $230.00.
$187.00 plus shipping and insurance. The scope is in exceptional condition. This is a perfect item for a vintage set-up.
This is a set: Vintage Leather: Scope & Covers (1950's) and Unertl Hawk 4x Scope. The covers are completely original but the strap is broken. I have treated these covers with Wilson's Leather Lotion to keep them pliable. Origanal Scope Covers are just about impossible to find nowadays. If you knew of a saddle shop where they did leather work and stitching, you could easily have them duplicate the strap, and stich a new strap on. We had such a shop here, but, unfortunately, they went out of business about two years ago. They did such work for me, and the covers with the strap looked totally original.
The Unertl Scope is excellent plus, with minimal small marks on the tube, and the bluing is about 98-99%. The reticle is a rare single post. The scope is crystal clear for a scope of this vintage. See pictures.
Leather scope covers for these older scopes are getting very hard to find. When Unertl made the "Hawk" model, they used an alloy on the endpieces (back and front) of the scope. Once the finish is worn off them, they will not take bluing. The scope in as good as conditon as it is, warrants that it be put on a very nice collector grade rifle.
