Description:
This is a fine lightly used example of the not too often found C version with a detatchable magazine making it more user friendly for hunters in and out of camp or a truck. This guns has had almost no use; the blue is not far from new except for a couple of little bits of crud and the stock finish also relects almost no use or wear except for the forend where there is an imperfection to the finish where it was kept in a rack.
It has the more desirable tang safety rather than the somewhat awkaward safety on the lever used on the earlier guns, the lever retains most of the original case color and the gold anodizing on the trigger is unmarked as well. Athougth a scope was used the front and rear sights remain. The scope base is unique Leupold mount that has a fold up peep integral with the base ..we have seen only a handlful of these unique Leupold bases with the fold up peep.
In one or more of the pics we've show and nice Leupold VX 11 3x 9....it is NOT included with the rifle but may be purchased by the buyer of the rilfe (as long as it is available) for an additonal 165.00. Leupolds have a lifetime warranty against defects not limited to the original buyer; other than a little discoloration the scope howver is in excellent conditon with only some light use marks evident
The stock HAS NOT had the characteristic split on the upper tang seen on many 99's and it does have the correct period correct alum but plate with the neat Savage Indian with Headress.
Great vintage Savage 99 chambered in lightl recoiling 243 making it ideal for a young or newer hunter.
