The 20” round .70 caliber barrel has a fair smoothbore. The cleaned metal is bright with staining and light pits. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, and butt plate are very good. The nose cap and butt plate tang have crown over “F” inspection marks, the only marks on the gun. The refinished wood is good with areas of wood filler. This carbine has a captured ramrod, an unusual feature. The hammer screw is a replacement. The action functions correctly, except that the trigger will release at half cock.
