Description:
RARE, Indian Wars nickel plated, ivory gripped, U.S. Ainsworth inspected Colt Cavalry model revolver with an original slim jim holster and cartridge belt from 1874! This gun is fully documented and authenticated by John Kopec. (Letter included). These early, Indian Wars, U.S. Ainsworth inspected Colt revolvers are hard to find with any finish at all remaining,, as most were used hard during the period. This gun still has quite a bit of nickel finish remaining with the exception of the cylinder and grip straps mostly. All serial #'s match including the barrel and cylinder, the serial # on the cylinder is heavily worn, but, still legible,and correct. The mechanics are good, the bore is good too, with minor pitting and good lands and grooves. There is some minor pitting on left side of the barrel where the nickel is missing. Nice, antique ivory grips with a dark color and excellent fit. Comes with an old original period slim jim holster and cartridge belt. This is a very hard to find fully documented U.S.Ainsworth inspected Colt SAA revolver with very few minor modifications. (See Kopec letter for details). Please ask questions if desired.
