Francotte .25 ACP Made in 1912 Belgium
This is a scarce .25 auto of unique design. Built by A. FRANCOTTE in Liege Belgium, a very prolific Revolver manufacturer in the 1890s. He ventured into auto pistols just before the first world war. The barrel is fixed with the slide reciprocating into a hollowed out section of the receiver above the grip. Another feature is the back strap of the pistol which houses the hammer, sear, and magazine release. All of which can be removed as a unit after removing the cross bolt, by just pulling it down out of the grip frame. I believe this is the first pistol to incorporate such a design, not the TT30 Tokarev or MAS-35 which are better known for the feature. This exact pistol is the one photographed in Mathews FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION Volume II page 47. S/N 1441. The piece shows some age with a uniform patina, but still rates 92% original condition. Grips are fine , no chips or cracks. Bore is shiny and strong. Magazine shows insertion wear. Questions? Ask! Shipping costs are yours, usually $45.00 to the lower 47.
