All original Marlin 39 takedown with octogon barrel.
4-digit (no letter) s/n indicates production within first 3-4 years (1922-1926?).
Pretty wood with only a few surface scratches that don't show up well in photos - the wood is in much better condition than you typically find on a 95year old gun.
Smooth, precise action.
This gun loses points for two things.
First, most of the receiver's original case color and barrel blueing is gone (but there is no pitting or surface rust).
Second, buttplate has a 1/2" chip.
Overall this is a very attractive firearm - a collectible you can put up to display and admire and also take down to do some shooting.
