Kongsberg "Colt" (Nazi "Pistole 657(n)") 1914, Cal. .45 acp. Dated 1941.
This is the very scarce one that the WWII Kongberg collectors talk about but rarely surface. It is one of only 8223 made during the 1940-1945 Nazi occupation of Norway. They were made on Colt machinery purchased when Norway acquired the rights from Colt in 1916. The gun is Identical to a 1911 with exception of the takedown lever which was enlarged to operate with a gloved finger. The left grip panel was notched to allow for the enlarged lever. This one is dated 1941. They were given to the Norwegian home guard of Nazi sympathizers called Quislings. This freed Nazi soldiers to fight on the front.
The original factory black enamel finish is about 85-90%. The little loss there is, is due mostly to holster wear and sharp edge silvering. There is also some slighht toning of the front grip strap. There are no rust spots, scratches or pits anywhere. All numbers match except the barrel.
The walnut checkered grips are in fine condition. No splits cracks or even flattened points. The grip screws are undamaged. The bore is lightly frosted with easily descernible rifling. It comes with one original Kongsberg magazine.
