Description:
Original Louis Haiman and Bros Columbus Ga. Made Confederate Cavalry Sword and Brass mounted Scabbard. As found uncleaned example. 43 1/2 inches in Scabbard. Slight curve to blade with many flaws has dark metal as it has not been cleaned but as found light rusting as seen. Crude 3 branch guard (is tight on blade) with high content of copper same on the pommel cap. Pommel cap has well off centered peening. Grip with Oil CLoth Cover is about 90% intact, has a single iron wire intact. The blade is 35 3/4 inches. Scabbard with wrap around seam and is leaded. Dark Brass (high copper) content hangers with iron rings. Scabbard has dents as seen and is slightly bent. Iron Drag inact, throat is missing from scabbard. Sword fits firmly in scabbard. A Classic Georgia Haiman Cavalry Sword. Know dought saw action during the war. Sword has over 155 years of original patina. You can feel the history that this sword seen when held in hand.
