Barrel length 4” and overall length is 8”. Barrel is two stage. Octagonal to round, terminating at a cannon muzzle. Trigguergard bow and buttcaps are cameos of busts of a man and a woman, likely husband and wife as was the fashion in Europe. The buttcap and sideplate are foliate and scroll engraved. The octagonal section of the barrels are silver inlaid with tendrils and leaves. The stocks are carved around the breech plug tang in a spreading floral pattern. The very unusual feature of this pair is the belt hook at the sideplates. These belthooks are seldom seen in small pistol such as these. The owner must have been a person with some importance or notoriety. There is no makers name except for Gold sinks on the breech of the barrels. The image on the gold is that of a Lion’s face. The actions function perfectly. The stocks have sharp edges and the carving are sharp as well. These fine pistols are some of the best we have owned. They make you smile just holding them in your hand, and will be a pleasure to own. SOLD Antique: Yes |
