This is the pattern of musket that was carried by British forces at the start of the American Revolution. The overall length is approximately 62½". The 46" round .75 caliber barrel has a good bore. The barrel has a proof crown / (?) at the chamber and a “3" on the tang. The barrel has a brown patina with light roughness overall. The lock with crown/GR at the center and “Grice/1762" at the tail is a modern replacement. The furniture is good with aged brass. The trigger guard is repaired to the rear of the bow. The stock is good with repairs around the lock and wrist. The brass nose cap is missing. The swivels and ramrod are present. The action functions correctly, fill that hole in your collection for a reasonable price. First model Brown Besses rarely turn up in any condition. As we mentioned, the lock is a modern replacement that looks very good, and, as a result, this musket won’t cost you $15,000.00. SOLD Antique: Yes |
