Description:
This is a very neat little Harrington & Richardson Self Loading .25 ACP Pistol complete with a beautiful hand-made presentation case.  This little H&R was made sometime between 1913 and 1914, a first-variation gun identified by the 12 slide serrations and the serial range within 10,000.  This little semi-automatic blow-back operated pocket pistol features a 2" inch barrel, a gloss blue factory finish, a heel-release 6-shot detachable box magazine, fixed iron sights, a left-side thumb safety, and checkered Gutta Percha grips with the H&R logo in the center.  The overall size of the little pistol is 4" inches long by a little over 3" inches tall, and it weighs in at 12 ounces unloaded.  The H&R Self Loading .25 proved to be an excellent little pocket pistol, very reliable and well-made.  Between the first and second variations there were approx. 17,000 of these made by H&R until being discontinued in 1920.  This particular example is in perfect working condition and has a very good look to it.  The original finish shows a lot of small handling marks and light finish wear but there are no bad spots or eyesores.  The finish has a very even and pleasing patina to it.  All of the factory markings on this pistol are crisp and clean, and all of the serial numbered parts are matching (barrel, frame, and slide).  The bore in this H&R is average but should still shoot just fine.  The rifling is still there with good lands but the grooves are dark, not a surprise given the age of the gun.  The original grips are in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  The checkering is still crisp and the H&R logos still look perfect.  The action on this pistol is really smooth and precise.  These really are well-made guns with superb maching and fitting.  All of the controls are in perfect working order on this pistol, and we have no doubt that it will still function perfectly.  As mentioned before, this little beauty comes with a very well-made and handsome fitted display case.  The case features a lockable lid with key, a 25-round ammo compartment, a screw driver, and a cleaning rod.  The case is lined with a soft blue material, and the exterior displays beautiful natural stripes and figure in the wood.  This vintage H&R would be a great addition to any collection as both an investment and a neat display piece.
