Description:
Exceptionally clean PRE WAR Winchester Model 70 in the super scarce and highly sought after .22 Hornet caliber. This is a beautiful rifle being sold at a discounted price due to one non-factory 6-48 drill hole present in the top of the rear receiver bridge. (The front receiver ring drill holes are of course factory as on all Model 70s). S/N 27*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1940. Excellent 95% plus condition throughout with smooth and proper mechanical function. The Barrel is 24" with a strong shiny bore. All of the unique 22 Hornet inner components are 100% correct including an "H" marked floor plate. I have personally confirmed that the chamber remains intact and has never been reamed to a K hornet nor any other caliber. Perhaps not for the purist collector due to the extra hole, but this is still a really great rifle and will surely prove to be one of the nicest PRE WAR hornets you ever see offered at this price.
