Description:
This Model 1878 DA shows wear consistent with age and use. The frame is stamped .44 cal. for .44 WCF (.44-40 Win.) The cylinder stamp matches the full serial number on the heel. However, as is quite common, the loading gate stamp does not match. During this time period, the loading gates were picked randomly from a bin, so picking a match would have been pure luck. The left grip shows a one-inch chip. Manufactured and shipped in January 1891. .44-40 Winchester
