Striped Maple PA Long Rifle by Leman!
Here we present an antique Henry Leman Full Stock Long Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Henry Eichholz Leman was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, March 8, 1812, and died there March 12, 1887. His ancestors had lived in Lancaster County for generations. This area of Pennsylvania was home to true legends in American gunmaking, many of them of German heritage. These craftsmen perfected their trade and turned out rifles of incredible quality with tools that would be considered primitive today.
This rifle features a long and slender profile with a full-length forestock that goes all the way to the muzzle of the octagonal barrel. Striped maple. Brass hardware includes butt plate, trigger guard, and band near the muzzle. Double set triggers. A beauty!
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is good. The stock is solid. “LEMAN/LANCTR PA” is engraved on the lock. “LEMAN/LANCTR PA/WARRANTED” is atop the barrel. A wonderful example of the Pennsylvania long rifle from the “Cradle of American Gunmaking”!
