It is all hand sewn, with welted seams throughout. The button hole stitching very fine and all done by hand. The button placate is closed with two original black glass buttons and the cuffs are buttoned with the same black button as well. This shirt was made about 1890 to 1900. It was made of native brain tanned deer hide. The stitching is in good shape for the age with no loose stitches. Around each button hole is the hand stitching and the stitching is very close together. The collar band is decorated with a hand cut scolloped edge. The leather fringe has been added at a later time and is not of native tanned leather. Behind the fringe is a black silk binding around the button placate, that is original to the shirt. I see absolutely no significant damage of any kind. This shirt is a size 40 or 42 inch chest measurement and would fit the average man of the time. This is of museum quality and certainly tells a story of the American West. Shirts of this style were often made by Indian women for Cavalry Officers during our westward expansion and can be seen in old photos of early cowboys . The other accompanying props are not included. Rare to find as these were often used up. Great for a museum, cowboy room antique gun display. From the real west. We always answer questions and entertain offers.
