Description:
This is a very lightly used Winchester 1886 Extra Light manufactured by Miroku in Japan ca. 2000
The 22" barrel has a bright and shiny bore with distinct rifling. Sights include a front blade dovetailed into the barrel and a buckhorn adjustable rear sight. The black walnut stock and forend have a few light marks from normal use and storage. The rifle retains at least 99% or better of its original factory metal finish and has a few very fine, shallow scratches. None of the marks/scratches mentioned hurt the aesthetics of this rifle. They're noticeable mostly when you're looking closely for imperfections and you're holding the rifle at various angles to the light. It's a beautiful rifle that gets plenty of compliments from everyone that sees it.
The left side of the barrel is marked “U.S. REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / JAPAN/MIROKU" and "CAL. .45-70 GOV'T". "The right side of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 EXTRA LIGHT RIFLE, WINCHESTER LICENSEE". An oval with “WP” inside is found on both the top of the receiver and the top of the barrel. The underside of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER / MODEL 1886”.
