Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: This beautiful rifle's unique character of extraordinarily tiger-striped wood and a special order leather faced recoil pad, not to mention it being a Pre War chambered in the best 300 Magnum ever, makes it one of my favorite Model 70s! This is a super scarce Pre War Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in 300 Magnum caliber (300 H&H). S/N 38*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1941. The barrel is 26" with an excellent bore. Mechanical functions are all excellent as well. The overall condition is an easy 95% with the typical patina of a very well cared for rifle having developed over the past 80 years. There is a factory inletted and installed Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight with all matching component numbers and a correct Lyman 12S filler plug in the rear sight dovetail. There has also been a period Tilden safety lever installed which were of equivalent supreme quality and a bit more ergonomically friendly than the original flag safety. This could easily be changed back to an original which are inexpensive and readily available. Upon close scrutiny, there is no question that the pad is an original factory-issued special order installation, and it wears the ultra-rare leather face which is talked about but practically never encountered. The leather has seen better days but is still relatively intact. All correct SG components are present including a SUPER GRADE stamped floorplate with the proper early typestyle, Redfield front sight, true (and specific to this era) concave shouldered Pre War swivels, etc. A very special rifle indeed.
