Description:
Description:
Standard configuration 1900 Sight Safety. Left side of slide with two line address detailing patent date of 1897. The right side of the slide is marked with the caliber. Frame markings are limited to the “USN 191” on the left, the serial number “1191” on the right and the usual inspector markings on either side of the trigger guard. Features include half-moon front sight and the original rear sight that snaps down to block the firing pin. Major components finished with Colt’s classic high polish midnight blue. Color case hardened sight safety and hammer. Fire blued slide wedge, pins, trigger, grip screws and magazine release. Smooth walnut panels. Original nickeled magazine with six transverse indicator holes and a floorplate marked “ PAT’D SEP 9 1884”.

Synopsis:
This high condition and all original Colt 1900 was one of 250 pistols serial numbered for the US Navy in a single serial block 1001-1250 that bore both Colt’s serial number and the Navy inventory number.

Condition:
Near excellent original condition with sharp edge wear and a scattering of nicks as often seen on this group of pistols. The three of the pins on the left side of the gun have their head slightly marred. Case hardened sight and hammer with slight fading. Trigger screws and magazine release retain most of their original fire blue. Excellent magazine. Near mirror bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. This particular pistol was in the 4th group of Navy contract pistols, #1151-1200, shipped Oct 29, 1900. All were delivered to the US Government General Storekeeper in Brooklyn, NY. This particular gun was specifically cited in Scott Meadow’s book “US Military Automatic Pistols 1894-1920” on page 41. An absolutely great, no excuse, an unaltered Colt 1900 Sight Safety that could easily be the centerpiece of a serious US martial collection.   A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!

Buyer is responsible for a flat 2nd day FedEx shipping fee of $155.
