Description:
Early and clean PRE WAR Winchester Model 70 in the scarce and highly desirable .257 Roberts caliber. This is a very nice rifle being sold at a discounted price due to one non-factory 6-48 drill hole present in the top of the rear receiver bridge. (The front receiver ring drill holes are of course factory as on all Model 70s). S/N 19*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1939. The overall condition is about 90% with all original finishes showing expected wear of a very well cared for but used 81 y.o. firearm. The Barrel is 24" with a strong shiny bore. All mechanical functions are butter smooth and working properly. If you have always wanted to savor the true greatness of a Pre War 70 in one of the premier calibers, but couldn't quite shell out the $4,000 plus price tag of a higher condition original, this one would be an excellent choice.
