The AYA Nº 2 HAND DETACHABLE SIDELOCK is the pre-eminent "affordable" sidelock double gun, and the most famous model in the AYA line. Since its introduction in the late 1950s, tens of thousands of Nº 2's have been sold in the United Kingdom, the United States, and everywhere that shooters value the superb balance and handling characteristics of a fine double gun. Mechanically, the Nº 2 is identical to the Nº 1, AyA’s flagship best model. Like the Nº 1, it was originally modeled on the time-tested Holland & Holland system. When looking at “BEST GUN” features, the AyA No. 2 has them all, and wraps them up in a very well made, well respected, affordable gun. Features like finely struck chopper-lump barrels, hand engraved sculpted action with beaded fences, hand-detachable sidelocks, articulated front trigger, removable firing pin bushings, rolled edge long-tang trigger guard, finely figured fiddleback European walnut stocked to the fences with drop-points, diamond shaped wrist, hand-checkered with double borders all combine to make a very elegant gun. This gun was built in 2003 and remains in 99% factory original condition, with 99% deep rust blue on the barrels and trigger guard, 98% vivid bone and charcoal on the action, and the hand-rubbed oil finish on the wood. The gun is mechanically excellent with the 29” barrels choked IC/LM still tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, the ejectors strong and well timed, trigger pulls crisp…all in superb condition. If you compare the figure in the wood to other No. 2 Grade AyA guns out there you will conclude that this is upgraded wood as well. Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. and balanced perfectly between the hands, you could not ask for a nicer gun for your upland pursuits or forays on the sporting clays course.
