Description:
One of very few standard configuration FN 1903 pistols factory slotted at the base to accept uniquely designed hollowed shoulder stock recessed for pistol, extended magazine and cleaning rod. The stock slides unto the bottom of the pistol, effectively acting as an extension of the frame, the lug providing a fixture through which fits the extended magazine. Pistol has the usual fixed front sight, this one modified from half moon to a patridge profile, and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide with two line address, referencing manufacturer in Belgium and Browning’s patent. Belgium proof marks on adjacent slide, repeated on frame and exposed barrel hood. Caliber conversion on left frame. Full serial number on right side of frame. Fitted with checkered grips, each panel molded with the intertwined FN logo over a finely checkered field. Hollowed shoulder stock has lug #1160. Standard magazine cut with a single viewing slot on the right side and no markings. This rig does not include the customary supplied magazine or cleaning rod.
Synopsis:
Very scarce FN 1903 “War Model” pistol, rechambered to .380ACP upon importation with original shoulder stock.
Condition:
Very good original rust blue with scattered speckling and wear particularly on the frontstrap as photographed. Original grips with slightly blunted checkering, the right panel having losses forward of the FN logo. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. Although the stock is mismatched it is in the same general condition as the pistol, an old repair on top, just ahead of the grip cutout, that secures firmly, making for a very attractive and rarely encountered ensemble that could easily be improved by adding the extended magazine and a cleaning rod. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
