Description:
Standard M1906 Navy with 6 inch barrel having drift adjustable front sight and two position rear sight marked 100/200.  Blank chamber with intertwined DWM on middle toggle.  Left side of barrel and receiver marked with crown followed by double crown M on receiver.  The full serial number with letter suffix appears under the barrel and forward frame.  Wilhelmshaven Dockyard marking “W.W./8758”, reflecting weapon number 8758, is on the backstrap just under the grip safety.   British proofing under barrel, with smaller proofs on toggle train, right receiver and frame. Disassembly shows all matching small parts. Correct Navy magazine numbered 3675 accompanied by original shoulder stock rig that includes original straps.  Holster contains original, unmarked takedown tool. Head of pullup strap missing and no cleaning rod. Back of stock, marked with a large crown/M, has an accepted, but unnumbered Naval disc. Synopsis: Superb condition and well documented M1906 Navy Luger, marked for Wilhelmshaven Dockyard and British proofed with correct magazine and correct, non-matching stock. Condition: Approximately 98+% bright original blue with minor sharp edge wear and minor freckling of grip straps.  Usual fading around serial number, under barrel, around the Wilhelmshaven markings, and around some of the British proofs.  Bright original straw, comparable condition, showing no evidence of enhancement.  Grips are sharply checkered with the right panel having minimal blunting.  VG-excellent magazine with small scuff on base as pictured.  Mirror bore and perfect manual mechanics.  Near excellent shoulder stock with expected scattered dings.  Minor oxidation over crest of lug. Leather with age expected crazing, particularly over the strap retaining the nose of the holster.  Shoulder straps with no discernible repairs.  Overall, a very impressive and historic Naval rig.  Well documented and extensively photographed: PICTURED ON PAGES 573, 880, 901-904, 1118 of The Borchardt and Luger Automatic Pistols text by Gortz and Sturgess.  A HISTORIC INVESTMENT! ~~Insured shipping fee of $155; most packages shipped using FedEx 2nd Day.~~
