Description:
SOLD  ***   Sturdy Thomas Wild 12 bore boxlock with 28” sleeved nitro barrels No. 4116 made in 1906. Nicely engraved action and fences with side bolster and cross bolt for strength. Double triggers, extractors, auto safety, and weighs 6lb 8oz.   ***   The 28” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and are topped by a solid game style concave rib engraved on the breech end. Bluing is in great condition. The right barrel is bored 0.726 with a constriction of 0.025 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.030. The left barrel is bored 0.728 and has a constriction of 0.035 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028.   ***   The buttstock has a Prince of Wales grip and along with the splinter forearm is made of nicely figured English walnut. The forearm checkering is crisp while that on the buttstock shows some wear. There are a few minor handling marks from normal usage. on both. Stock dimensions are 13-1/2” to a thin buttplate(perhaps horn) by 1-1/2” by 2”. Add a pad and you are at 14-1/2” length of pull. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   This would be a great gun for upland game or clays. Very nice handling and solidly built. Sleeved barrels so in proof and with plenty of wall thickness.   ***   This is a great vintage double from a great gunmaker still well in proof and tight on face. Gun handles nicely and would be great for doves, pheasants, grouse and quail. With its new stock and modern shooting dimensions it makes a great gun for game and clays.  ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing.
