Forerunner to the incomparable Pre War Model 70, here is an ULTRA scarce Winchester Model 54 SUPER GRADE in 30-06 caliber. S/N 28***A with matching scribed bolt made in 1929. Outstanding condition throughout especially considering its 91 years of circulation! The barreled action is 97% beautiful rust blue with bottom metal showing noticably more wear as this model was very prone to flaking in that area. 95% Varnish with scattered handling marks. There are no extra drill holes or bolt/safety alterations whatsoever! There is a Jostems anti flinch recoil pad which was a factory option during production and it does look like a factory installation to me. The barrel is 24" with an excellent bore. All mechanical functions are smooth and working properly. All correct Super Grade components including lettered floorplate, Lyman 31 Gold bead front sight, genuine pre war era SG swivels, etc. There is a factory inletted/installed long slide Lyman 48 receiver sight with a Lyman 12S filler in the barrel dovetail. A truly beautiful condition and exceedingly rare 54 Super, being only about the 3rd or 4th such example I have ever encountered.
