model ,1870 springfield trapdoor  carbine  50 caliber    fine bore no pits  shiney,,,,,  little pitting on buttplate    rest is  free of pitting    clear esa cartouch  on stock   3 week inspection period  as these are very rare      ,,  ph 386 290 5646  to  answer questions    22 inch barrel   1864  lock date    i can see a ramrod channel has a  filler  barrel measures  22 1/4  inch  on out  side   but i used a stanley tape  measure looks to be an original 1870 carbine    conforms  to  1870  carbine;;;;; '''in november  1871 springfield made 20 1870  carbines  for sale to officers  (?)  at san antonio arsenal   this may  be  one   of  those   the thikness of the breach block is reduced so it extends  below  the   center of the hinge pin   hole   ,  looks  like  a slight  ski  slope  on top  tang .''  if  not  a  real  1870  carbine  tell  me  what is  wrong  other than  stock   has  the  ram rod  channel   filed ;;;;;;;;   this may be because it was made  at san antonio arsenal
