CIVIL WAR COLT CONTRACT U.S. MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1863. 40” rifled .58 cal. barrel with “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” proofs. Lock dated 1863 and stamped “U.S./COLT’S PT. F. A. CO./HARTFORD, CT” Stock with two clearly visible Ordnance Sub-Inspectors cartouches. Very good overall and 100% original. Metal with crisp light patina and stock with lightly worn old finish. Working order and dark bore with wear. Correct reproduction leather sling. Desirable Colt Rifle-Musket and year of Battle of Gettysburg date.
