RARE WW2 IRWIN-PEDERSEN U.S. M1 OR M-1 CARBINE, CIRCA 1943. .30 Carbine caliber. Serial number within the 2nd very small range Irwin-Pedersen was contracted to produce. They produced the smallest number of carbines for the war effort. This one is within 150 numbers of the first number in the second batch. The correct barrel is marked "Underwood/ 6-43 / flaming bomb" and a small "P" further down the barrel without the bayonet attachment which is correct for WW2(no sign of one EVER being there). Correct flat band, spring, rear flip-up sight, early push button safety, milled triggergaurd, flat bolt, etc. Operating rod with flaming bomb stamp. Original finish on barrel and receiver. Walnut stock with various stamps including crossed cannons proof and "RSG" stamp in sling well(correct for Irwin-Pedersen). Period sling. Period "IU" stamped blue magazine. Mirror bright bore.
