"Rare Remington New Model Navy .38 caliber revolver. Conversion by the factory on a US contract to convert 1000 .36 percussion revolvers to .38 centerfire. This is a correct anchor marked on barrel as part of that contract! This pistol has approximately 60% original blue, mostly on barrel. Rammer assembly and cylinder frame has approximately 10% blue. Barrel has the 1858 patent date and Remington address. Bore is good plus and mostly bright. Action works, indexes and locks up perfect. Grips are original and show wear but no chips or cracks. Scarce correct navy conversion contract revolver.
