Description:
Unusual prewar Sauer sporting rifle built on a commercial Mauser 98 action, matted front ring, checkered bolt knob; with a part-octagon 21" barrel bearing a full length matted integral rib marked "Model Mauser JP Sauer & Son", the breech marked "Fluid Steel Krupp Essen". The rear sight has been removed in favor of a vintage and equally rare Lyman no. 35 no-drill receiver sight that mounts on the bolt release. Sight has fine and coarse apertures, fully adjustable w/o tools. Rifle has the optional double set triggers (functional) with a lever-release magazine plate. Stock is marked "SUPERIOR" in the inletting, has a small amount of glass bedding at the forend tip, and has a third hold-down. I think the stock is a (close) copy of the original.
