Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1922, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 2oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: 28821

Over the last decade Ansley H. Fox’s double guns have become the most desirable vintage American double guns on the planet.  And there is good reason, as Michael McIntosh points out in his book A.H. FOX  “THE FINEST GUN IN THE WORLD”; the Fox guns are supremely balanced, extremely reliable and simply built guns with classic good looks.  There are a LOT of 12ga. A Grade Fox guns available to own so how do you choose which one to buy?  Most have been restocked, poorly restored, heavily used, have buggered up screws from hack gunsmithing attempts, or have characteristics that just don’t fit your needs.  The fine Fox A Grade ejector we show here, sn28821 built in 1922, has a lot going for it, especially if you hunt upland birds like pheasants, sharptails, waterfowl, etc as it is a 7lb. 2oz. gun with 30” number 3 weight barrels choked M/F and great stock dimensions.  Vintage Firearms (VFI) restored the wood on this gun and made it a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY by disassembling the action and forend iron, Ultrasonic cleaning and scrubbing all parts, inspecting all for function and integrity, lubricating all and reassembling ready for another decade of use before service is again required.  This is a $325 service here in our gunsmith shop.  The barrels have tight ribs, excellent bores, 2 ¾” chambers, lots of wall thickness, with the barrels tight on the breech face and 98% rust blue (done before we got the gun).  The action retains 35% factory case color (fading), sharp clear engraving, crisp triggers, auto safety, and excellent screws.  The wood has 10 coats of hand-rubbed Truoil finish, recut checkering, no cracks, and is 14 1/8” to the buttplate.  What a great gun for upland game or clay targets and at an affordable price.  Guns this clean and ready to go are not commonly found, and just in time for your pheasant hunts and maybe even a bit of duck hunting.  I believe this is the best Fox AE 12ga. for the money on the internet at the present time.  Don’t hesitate as it should go pretty quickly.  Thanks for looking!
