Description:
I'd have to say when it comes to firearms this is as close to a barn find as I have ever encountered.  The previous owner said that the gun was owned by a WW II,  Battle of the bulge veteran. Apparently he brought this gun home after the war as a trophy.  As his military career continued ultimately  he became a 2 star general. The gun on the other hand because of the caliber was hung on the wall of the family home for decades. Over the years the accumulation of cooking and tobacco oils plus airborne dust and dirt completely covered the whole firearm  turning it to a rusty brown color that obscured all the original finishes.  Now that it was in my possession, I very carefully and slowly began to work at the accumulated dirt and oil with a mild cleaning agent. The more I did the more the original finishes began to appear. In my years of collecting vintage firearms of this nature I have never found one that came so close to the original condition when it was cleaned.  This is a truly fine specimen of a vintage German rifle as it would have left the factory, except for a few mild blemishes  in the barrel bluing. The colors are brilliant and the finishes are true. There are a few pictures showing the original condition of the gun at the end of the pictures.  One last thing I forgot to say that the gun comes with one Box of hand loaded amminition.
