Description:
Winchester Model 1876 Sporting Rifle .45/75. The serial number of this Third Model is 55968 placing date of manufacture in 1884-85. Overall condition of is very good with a mix of factory blue and patina. Above average of blue on the barrel flats and strong address markings. The bore is dark with typical scattered pitting, however the rifling appears to be present. The bore will come back stronger with a good scrubbing. Front sight has an Ivory insert for a blade with a very nice dark yellow patina. With the dust cover back the action cycles perfectly. Action cycles and seems mechanically perfect. The receiver still has bluing in protected areas. The brass follower is clearly marked .45/75. The brass has toned to a very nice mottled mustard patina. Wood to metal fit is perfect. No sanding or damage observed anywhere. The stock still has factory varnish. A very nice early third model untouched... This rifle will letter with Cody.
