Fine smooth metal with even brown patina overall (the receiver patina being a bit lighter) however the markings are all mostly dim or gone from going through the arsenal post-CW refurbishing and refinishing process for re-issue to the Indian Wars. The wood is solid with quite noticeable scuffing on the left side of the buttstock, probably from being carried in a wagon and not having been secured properly. A colorful old Civil War and Indian War veteran, but the scuffing has obscured whatever remained of the “DFC” conversion cartouche. Totally complete with the saddle ring and bar, the Lawrence patented rear barrel sight, and the lever retaining sliding thumbpiece. Appears to be unmessed with overall, and should make a decent collectors piece as well as a fine shooter (after being thoroughly checked out by a qualified gunsmith, of course. VG+ as described. $2195 SOLD Antique: Yes |
