I am offering this very special '73 saddle ring carbine for sale to the advanced collector. It is ser. #143213 in 44-40 cal.. It was built in 1884 and shipped on order #9416. Apparently it was shipped with 5 other similar guns , I believe for the President of Peru to be used as Presidntial Guard guns. The accompanying factory letter says it all ; carbine, engraved, gold trim, Peruvian coat of arms, X stock, etc., not sure what "etc." means. Condition; the gun is untouched original and in v ery good condition with no dents or cracks in the wood, There is very little blueing remaining on the barrel or mag and has turned brown patina, however thereis about 5% of the original gold wash remaining on the receiver, butt plate and barrel bands, and virtually all the orig. wood finnish, orig. sights, very good bore, orig. cleaning rod in the butt are some of the features of this very rare 1873. I don't know how many engraved, gold washed '73 carbines are out there , but I'll bet not many. It's the only one I've seen in 50+ years. I am asking $16,000.00 U.S..
