I am reducing my collection of fine custom rifles.
Offered is a pre war M-70 in caliber .257 Roberts. This rifle is stocked with a fantastic piece of English walnut by Jim Duncan, Aumsville, Oregon (now deceased) The stock shows beautiful black streaking from the butt to the ebony tipped forend. It has a shadow line around the ckeek rest. It has extensive, well execuited, fine checkering that is bordered. The areas around the hinged floorplate and 2 screw swivel bases are nicely contoured. The grip cap is also ebony wood and the butt plate is checkered steel, Neidner style. The floorplate is hinged, straddle type with trigger guard release lever ($500-$600 option). The pre war safety has been converted to the traditional 3 position, pre 64 style. The bolt handle has been straightened and changed to a classic pear shapped knob. The rear sight boss has been slimmed and recontoured to match the barrel taper. The rear action screw hole has been converted to a blind hole. The barrel has been recrowned with an 11 degree target crown. The bolt release has been built up and checkered. Scope bases are custom machined from steel bar stock. Rings are Warne quick release, 1 inch rings. This rifle is still capable of shooting sub 1 inch groups with different bullets. I can provide test targets/load data. See the photo of the ebony grip cap which shows some fine scratches from the brass zipper on my rifle case, which is the only flaw on this otherwise excellent rifle I have taken deer and antelope with this rifle.
You could spend more $$$$ on a Kimber, Dakota, or Cooper rifle and not have a one of a kind custom rifle that is of superior quality.
