This is a nice all-original pre-64 Winchester Model 70 rifle in .300 H&H Magnum that was manufactured in 1951. Considered by many shooters and collectors to be the ultimate American-made bolt action rifle, the pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 is a true collectible classic. This particular example is a standard model chambered in the powerful .300 H&H magnum cartridge. It features a factory blue finish on all of the metal parts, a 26" inch standard-weight barrel with iron sights, and a checkered American Walnut stock with factory sling swivels and a Pachmayr White Line buttpad. This rifle has been used and carried some but not abused. The blue finish shows some wear and handling marks but no bad spots or eyesores. The original blue is still very attractive and all of the parts show a consistent patina. The bore is excellent with nice, strong rifling throughout the barrel and no visible pitting or erosion. The original stock is in good condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. The wood shows some wear and handling marks consistent with the rest of the rifle. The checkered panels are still nicely defined and visible. All of the original factory stock hardware is in place and in good condition. The action on this Winchester is in perfect working order and is extremely smooth. The serial numbered bolt turns into battery tightly with no slop, and the trigger breaks crisply with a light pull. This Model 70 should shoot just as accurately now as the day it left the factory 69 years ago! This Winchester Model 70 comes fitted with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40mm scope. All in all, this is a great 1951-production Winchester Model 70 in a great sought-after caliber. This classy and handsome rifle would make an excellent addition to any classic firearms collection.
