Among the best you will ever see offered, here is a superb example of the exceedingly scarce and highly coveted PRE WAR Winchester 70 in 22 Hornet caliber. This beautiful rifle is a true time capsule and remains in virtually unaltered, near mint condition after 83 years! A 4 digit S/N of 8716 with matching scribed bolt signifies 1937 production. Easy 98% Blue and Varnish overall, with a few scattered insignificant marks and a slight track from the scalloped but sharp edged base of a previously mounted Lyman 48 receiver sight. All mechanical functions are typically as smooth as silk. The barrel is 24" with a strong, shiny bore. All of the unique 22 Hornet inner components are 100% correct including an "H" marked floor plate. I have personally confirmed that the chamber remains intact and has never been reamed to a K hornet nor any other caliber. An extraordinary rifle sure to please any reasonably discriminating collector.
