Description:
#4837 Sharps 1859/63 New Model Carbine, post-Civil War, 51XXX serial range, 50/70 conversion with original percussion six-groove 52cal barrel having been sleeved with the 50/70 three groove barrel for use in the Indian Campaigns. VG+ bore and tight smooth action. The buttstock and forestock have serious s, bruises, and scruffing overall from hard Cavalry use and many years of frontier use after the Indian Wars military use (see photos). Basically it is just solid wood and no visible DFC (David F. Clark) inspectors acceptance cartouche remains. The metal has scattered light to medium pitting over most all of the surface area, markings are dimly visible on the frame and on the barrel, but they would have been light due to the arsenal converting and refinishing in the 1870s anyway. Visually, this is definitely a hard-used saddle gun, but still has a better-than-average bore, so should be a good shooter after a safety check by a competent gunsmith. About Good+ as described. $1865
