This is a very nice, fully transferable MP-40 with Erma receiver and Merz Werke matching rear assembly. This is an all matching and correct sub-machine gun, as these were often comprised of parts from multiple manufacturers due to subcontracted parts. For those familiar with the MP-40 this is a classic C&R gun which is in all original configuration. Shoulder stock employs properly and quite tight when extended. The MP-40 was the successor to the MP-38 model. Both were intended to be compact bust fire power weapons especially suited for dismounted vehicle troops but was issued in ever increasing numbers to troops of all kinds. It is slow firing, comfortable to shoot, durable, with readily available parts. The original bluing rates at around 30-50% with uniform thinning and patination of the metal parts, but no corrosion or defect. Receiver is dated to 1941 with 'ayf' maker code, referencing Erma. Rear assembly is 'cos' marked for Merz Werke. Fantastic bore. This weapon is fully transferable on ATF form 3 or form 4 as C&R eligible.
