Description:
This is a very lightly-used Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector, post-War pre-Model 30 in .32 S&W Long mnaufactured in 1948.  This double-action revolver is a 5-screw built on Smith & Wesson's small "I" frame with a round butt.  It has a factory gloss-blue finish, a 3.25" inch barrel, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, a round blade front sight and notch-rear sight, and factory-checkered Walnut grips with diamonds around the escutcheons and silver S&W medallions.  While the .32 Hand Ejector model was first introduced in 1897, it remained in production and went thru a number of changes before and during both WW1 and WW2, with production temporarily halted during WW2 to concentrate on U.S. Military requirements.  After WW2 ended, Smith & Wesson geared back up and began producing the .32 Hand Ejector again in 1946 with some more engineering changes.  This particular example is one of these early post-war guns.  As you can see from the pictures, the original blue finish is still in great shape, rating 95% with the only deductions coming from some very minor high-edge wear, a drag-line around the cylinder, and a 2 small little patches on the cylinder that show evidence of prior surface rust.  None of these deductions take much away from the clean overall look of this Smith.  All of the factory markings are crisp and clear on this gun, and all of the serial numbered parts are matching including the grips.  The bore in this .32 Hand Ejector is immaculate, mirror-bright with sharp rifling throughout and no imperfections.  The 6 chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and pristine.  The factory grips on this revolver are in great shape, with nice clean checkering and perfectly fit to the gun.  There is one tiny little repair we made on the left grip panel where a small crack along the inner edge was glued.  It is located on the inside edge at the top where the metal of the frame takes a right angle to step down in width.  There is a close-up picture of this provided in the listing.  The action on this Hand Ejector is precise, perfectly "in time", and butter-smooth as only these 1940's and 50's gun can be.  Every single part was hand-fit by an expert gunsmith at S&W and this really has to be felt to truly be appreciated.  All of the controls on this little revolver are in perfect working order and there is no doubt that this revolver would be just a reliable and accurate today as the day it left the factory 72 years ago.  If you have been looking for an honest, all-original, and handsome I-frame model for your Smith and Wesson collection this .32 Hand Ejector would be a great choice.  It has more than enough condition to be a great long-term investment, but just enough wear that you could shoot it with care and not hurt it's value.
