Here we present an antique Tacked Smoothbore “Long Rifle”, made circa the 1850s. Many American Indian trade guns were shortened when their barrels were damaged or to make them more agile on horseback or in the woods. They were used from the colonial era and into the early 20th century and were the main firearms used by Native Americans through much of American history, including during the American Revolution, Custer's Last Stand, and the late 19th century Indian Wars. This one features a brass patch box set into maple, with German silver décor such as the weeping heart at the top of the wrist and the crescent moon face silhouette on the cheek rest, and the series of brass (non-ferrous) tacks on the right side of the piece. The bore is smooth and about .38 caliber. The rear sight was knocked off at some point. The overall condition is good. The action is functional. The bore is in good shape for its age. The stock shows several minor repairs throughout, most of which are located in the fore stock. The stock is solid as are the repairs. The ramrod is a short replacement with a Union Metallic Cartridge Co. rimfire case on the end. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 27-3/4 inches. Caliber: .38 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
