Antique Match Safe/vesta in the shape of a old shoe/boot. This is a very old match safe. The heal is hinged and is tight. The knurled cap surface is were the match head would strike. It is silver plated over brass. See pictures. The brass shows through the plating but almost no ware on the metal, and in nice condition. Measures 1 3/8" tall by 2 1/8" long and 1" at the widest. This match-safe will be a prize possession of yours. This vintage match safe dates from the late nineteenth century. The ring on the back of the boot will be perfect to fasten to you watch chain as a fob. Excellent shape for the age. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. Lid opens to 90 degrees and closes with a secure click. Hinge is excellent. The collectors have been hard after these and that makes them hard to find. Will hold the vest pocket matches as shown.
