ENGRAVED and CHECKERED STOCK Flint Pistol
Here we present an antique French Style Flintlock Pocket Pistol, made circa the early 19th Century likely in France. This is a large bore, single shot, self-defense weapon that would have been at home in a coat pocket or belt. When you only had one shot you had to make it count, and a large ball projectile was the solution.
This piece is sleek and nicely decorated with punch dot and line engraving with traces of gold still visible inside. Nice iron hardware. There is a maker’s mark on the left barrel flat with an “A” over a “C” with a symbol between. The ramrod is tipped in bone.
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is in great shape. The stock is smooth and solid and has good ergonomics. A very handsome pistol!
