#4970 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 100XXX range (1884), VG/VG+ bore, about a 7-7+ on a scale of 10 and having a tight smooth action with all the clicks on the hammer. The metal is very fine and smooth with virtually no pitting at all and retains an even thin original brownish-grey patina overall (this being said because these highly sought after pre-1900 S/As very often have had some things done during their long lifetimes to enhance their appearances). Fine markings, VG standard one-piece walnut grips with some very lightly scratched in initials on the left grip, toe-edge small chips on both sides, and about 10-15% wear overall. This is simply the classic configuration of the mid-1880s cowboy revolver and one that looks to be totally untouched as far as any “upgrading” being done over the years. A very nice and very desireable Colt with a very handsome appearance. Far above the average for a Single Action that is usually found priced in this age and same price range.VG++ $3250
