Description:
Stunning museum quality Colt show piece. The serial number dates it to 1903 making it a 1st generation Colt and the cattle brand engraving is attributed to David Wade Harris and appears to have his mark on the butt of the pistol. One of these "Cattle Brand" engraved Colts recently sold on (I Collector), item number 214 for $12,000 plus buyers premium of 15% plus taxes bringing the total out the door price to $14,938.00 The caliber is 44/40 and the barrel is marked “Colt Frontier 6 Shooter”. The left side of the frame has the following: Pat Sept 19, 1871 July 2, 72’ and Jan 19, 75’. and the 4 3/4" barrel has the highly desirable engraved "Colt Frontier 6 Shooter" panel on the left side. All external serial numbers are matching. The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number 2755. Inspector mark "B" is located on front of the cylinder and inspector mark "W" is located on the frame under the hammer. The cattle brand engraving is truly exquisite, and the Long Horn grips with the Texas Marshall star on one side places this one of a kind Colts absolutely over the top as an investment quality piece. If you desire a “Western Six Shooter, it doesn’t get any better than this. I will entertain any reasonable offers and would consider trades on WW1 & WWII handguns.
